Aniagiasi is an instrumental work which is both electronic and cinematic in nature. Bryan Nord uses a combination of pulsing synths, glitching beats and sonic textures to explore the topic of Artificial Intelligence. This, combined with Russ Starke’s driving and emotional guitar on select tracks, takes the listener on a journey of technological advancement. In short, this album explores the mind of a machine from its first moments of innocent awareness to that of limitless possibility.
The concept of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) can be broken down into three stages or classifications:
1) Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) which is an a.i. that specializes in one area
2) Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) which is the equivalent of a human’s level of intelligence
3) Artificial Superior Intelligence (ASI) which is intelligence above or “superior” to that of humanity
So by placing these 3 acronyms together, we get the title of the album – “Aniagiasi”
Each of the musical pieces on the album refer to an aspect of the A.I.’s history or a concept of the greater picture.
